Course: Advanced NSCLC: Empowering Nurses to Improve Patient Care in Rural and Underserved Communities

CME Credits: 1.00

Released: 2025-03-14

Rural areas experience elevated rates of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and cancer-related deaths compared to their urban counterparts. Ongoing challenges in these communities such as fewer oncologists, limited access to lung cancer care, and low clinical trial participation all perpetuate these disparities. Thus, increased education among oncology nurses who have been shown to play an essential role in serving these populations is critical. This online, on-demand CE activity will review key updates on current and emerging therapies for advanced NSCLC, including the role of biomarkers and molecular testing; best practices for identifying and managing potential treatment-related adverse events; and recommendations for laboratory monitoring. Potential strategies to address barriers to lung cancer care in rural and underserved communities will also be discussed. This enduring activity is a recorded session from Oncology Nursing Conference that took place on December 7, 2024.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
