Course: Linking Experts and Community Oncologists to Improve the Management of Gastric/GEJ Cancer in Rural and Underserved Communities – Lessons Learned
CME Credits: 1.00
Released: 2026-07-31
While gastric and gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancers are relatively uncommon in the United States, the disease is not typically diagnosed until later states, and 5-year relative survival remains low. Fortunately, recent progress in the identification of molecular subtypes of gastric/GEJ cancers and novel targeted therapies, including immunotherapies, have led to biomarker-guided treatment selection and improved outcomes for patients. In this on-demand CME/CE activity, expert faculty will review strategies for effective treatment and collaborative management of gastric and GEJ cancers in the community oncology setting. The program will highlight the role of biomarker testing in clinical practice and review current and emerging systemic therapies for locally advanced unresectable or metastatic gastric/GEJ cancers. Participants from a recent Gastric Cancer Project ECHO® initiative will also share their unique insights on challenges and lessons learned while caring for individuals with gastric and GEJ cancers in community-based settings. The content for this enduring activity was recorded on June 29, 2026.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
