Job ResponsibilitiesInvestigates operational problems and makes administrative judgments and decisions, consulting Director of Nursing and/or Administrator OnCall as necessary.
Performs regular rounds to all Nursing units. Observes resident care and work performance of Nursing employees, providing feedback to Nurse Managers.
Responds to and provides leadership for hospital codes as required.
Addresses employee, patient, family and physician concerns and complaints utilizing facility systems.
Provides information to the media in accordance with facility policy.
Refers inter/intra‐departmental problems to the appropriate resource or conducts individual resolution as necessary. Collaborates with unit staff and Nurse Managers to provide for staffing needs.
Acts as a facilitator for collaborative efforts between Nursing and Medical Staff.
Assists in disseminating information and answering questions about information such as policy/procedure changes and other facility communications.
Takes appropriate action regarding safety hazards and legal implications.
Accepts various projects as assigned by Director of Nursing.
Serves on councils and/or committees to develop policy, implement change, and improve nursing practice.
Utilizes leadership skills by accepting and fulfilling other management roles on an interim basis.
Minimum Required
A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Three (3) years of progressive Nursing experience.
Current New York State Registered Nurse License
CPR within 3 months of hire
Preferred
Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing
Previous supervisory experience in a hospital setting
Professional certification in a related nursing specialty (Nursing Administration)
ACLS certification
Work Environment
- Work is performed in primarily in a mobile manner, with greater than 70% of working hours spent rounding to patient care units and in direct contact with numerous employees, visitors, patients and physicians. Areas are air conditioned and heated.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.
- Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies.
