Bacterial and fungal superinfections are commonly reported in patients with coronavirus disease 2019.
Introduction:
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has affected over 505 million people and had caused 6.2 million deaths worldwide by 23 April 2022 [1]. Bacterial and fungal superinfections are increasingly reported in respiratory viral infections and have been related to increased morbidity and mortality [2,3,4].
