Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality across all age groups, affecting nearly million individuals worldwide each year., Hypothermia has long been used as a therapeutic intervention in individuals with severe brain injury, with the goal of reducing body temperature to that of the head or the entire body.– This approach has been shown to improve neuronal survival in the brain and other tissues following ischemia-reperfusion, and its neuroprotective properties have been demonstrated to mitigate further damage caused by brain trauma, stroke, and spinal cord injury., Mild therapeutic hypothermia also served as a neuroprotective treatment following spinal cord injury, with notable results observed in both preclinical and clinical settings.
