Research Article: Multifunctional Near-Infrared Dye IR- Encapsulated in Albumin Nanoparticles for Enhanced Imaging and Photothermal Therapy in Melanoma
Abstract:
Melanoma arises from the malignant transformation of melanocytes in the basal layer of the skin, accounting for ~% of all skin cancers. However, it is responsible for the majority of skin cancer-related deaths due to its high degree of malignancy and aggressive ability. In recent years, numerous novel melanoma therapies have emerged, including targeted therapy (BRAF and MEK inhibitors) and immunotherapy (PD/PDL inhibitors and CTLA inhibitors).– Nonetheless, due to the multiple drug resistance, as well as the inevitable toxic and side effects of drugs, which cause immune system damage, and organ function destruction, the overall prognosis of melanoma remains poor till date.– Thus, the effective treatment of melanoma still faces significant challenges, urging the development of new therapeutic approaches to alter the current melanoma treatment paradigm.
