Global ageing trends are resulting in increased challenges of providing healthcare for older populations, particularly frail older people. As the population ages worldwide, the number of people classified as frail also increases, with a disproportionate rise in the burden across low-income regions such as sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Over the next three decades, the second fastest rise in the number of older people is foreseen in SSA with an expected growth from million in to million by .
