Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycaemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. The majority of diabetic cases (–%) fall under the category of type DM (TDM), which includes patients with insulin resistance (IR) and typically a deficiency of relative insulin.
