Fibroblasts secrete various growth factors, cytokines, chemokines, and other peptide or protein factors that play essential roles in regulating wound repair.– Secretomes from fibroblasts include vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factor (FGF), hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor (TGF)-?, keratinocyte growth factor (KGF), interleukin (IL)-, and IL-.– The secretion patterns of fibroblast-derived factors significantly varies among species, anatomic sites, sub-types of fibroblast, and experimental culture conditions for obtaining secretomes.–
