Research Article: New ECG Algorithm for the Prediction of Culprit Vessel in Acute Myocardial Infarction Involving Lateral Part of the Ventricle: Ilkay Classification
Abstract:
The electrocardiogram (ECG) is the most commonly used and readily available diagnostic tool for the diagnosis of ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI). Early recognition of STEMI improves outcomes. Moreover, identifying the infarct-related coronary artery on the ECG is of great importance for reperfusion treatment. The ECG should be acquired and interpreted promptly after emergency evaluation. Acute myocardial ischemia may cause dynamic changes in ECG waveform. Serial ECG assessment supplies clinicians with critical information for the patients with non-diagnostic ECG at initial presentation.
