Research Article: Naples Prognostic Score is an Independent Prognostic Factor in Patients Undergoing Hepatectomy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Date Published: 2023-09-04

Abstract:
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death globally, and its rate of incidence is still increasing. Hepatectomy is the most commonly chosen radical treatment for patients with removable HCC. However, long-term survival remains far from satisfactory. Postoperative recurrence occurs in almost % of the patient, with a -year survival rate of merely .%. Despite the identification of some clinicopathological associated risk factors that are significantly associated with HCC prognosis, their predictive value does not produce the expected results for a variety of reasons.
