Research Article: Factors Influencing ART Adherence Among Persons Living with HIV Enrolled in Community Client-Led Art Delivery Groups in Lira District, Uganda: A Qualitative Study
Abstract:
Globally, . million [. million–. million] people are reported living with HIV in . CCLADs according to this study are community-based models of care that empower HIV-positive clients to form peer-led groups where they collectively support and assist each other in various aspects of HIV treatment and care. The initiative plays a crucial role in achieving the UNAIDS -- target, which aims to ensure that % of the persons living with HIV are enrolled into care and virally suppressed by . According to the Uganda Aids Commission () fact sheet report, . million people in Uganda were living with HIV and AIDS. In the same year, % of people living with HIV (PLWHIV) were on treatment, but only % were virally suppressed. Full ART adherence is central to good treatment outcomes; however, it still remains a challenge among HIV positive patients to date.
