Abstract:
Based on the GLOBOCAN estimates produced by IARC, primary liver cancer was ranked as the sixth most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide in . Among primary liver cancers, Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most frequent pathologic subtype. Despite significant progress in HCC treatment through surgical resection, liver transplantation, and immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-based therapy, the prognosis for patients with HCC remains poor. The emergence of ICIs has provided a new avenue for HCC treatment. However, due to the lack of effective indicators to predict the therapeutic response of immunotherapy in HCC, there is a current lack of individualized guidance for drug selection. Hence, there is an urgent need to identify novel and potential therapeutic targets and prognostic indicators related to tumor formation and progression in patients with HCC.
