Research Article: Is Metabolic Score for Visceral Fat (METS-VF) a Better Index Than Other Adiposity Indices for the Prediction of Visceral Adiposity
Abstract:
Obesity is an important risk factor for cardiometabolic diseases such as type diabetes, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. Body mass index (BMI) has long been used in the evaluation of obesity and the World Health Organization defines a BMI above kg/m as obesity. However, although BMI is a simple and useful method for assessing general obesity, it does not provide sufficient insight into the separation of lean body mass and adipose tissue and the distribution of adipose tissue.
