Introduction:
Since the introduction of minimally invasive vitreoretinal surgery in by Machemer, considerable technological progress has been made in the development of vitrectomy systems. – It has been demonstrated that increasing the gauge number of the vitreous cutter during vitrectomy results in a shorter duration of postoperative intraocular inflammation, faster restoration of visual acuity, and reduction of intra- and postoperative complications. –
