Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an inflammatory skin disease characterized by chronic recurrent dermatitis with profound pruritus. The pathogenesis of AD includes a multitude of factors such as disrupted epidermal barrier, exaggerated Th inflammation and inadequate antimicrobial peptides. AD is currently considered as a biphasic T cell-mediated disease, which exhibits Th- and Th-deviated immune reactions during disease chronicity.
