Research Article: Screening Y Chromosome Microdeletion in Men with Low Sperm Concentration and the Outcomes of Microdissection Testicular Sperm Extraction (mTESE) for Sperm Retrieval from Azoospermic Patients
Abstract:
Male infertility is defined as the inability to make their female partner get pregnant. A previous study reported that % of infertility problems in males were related to abnormal sperm count. Low sperm concentration was categorized into azoospermia, cryptozoospermia, and oligozoospermia., Azoospermia is the situation with no sperm in the semen, which was diagnosed by two consecutive confirmations of lacking sperm in centrifuged ejaculated semen samples. Meanwhile, cryptozoospermia or virtual azoospermia seems to have no sperm in the semen ejaculated, but a few sperm can be found in the pellet after centrifugation. Oligozoospermia occurs in men having less than million sperm/mL in the ejaculate, and patients having sperm count less than million sperms/mL were defined as severe oligozoospermia.,–
