Research Article: Predictive Factors of Oxygen Therapy Failure in Patients with COVID- in the Emergency Department
Abstract:
Coronavirus disease (COVID-) affects mortality owing to viral pneumonia that progresses to acute respiratory distress syndrome and acute hypoxemic respiratory failure. Early strategies in this new emerging disease are intubation in patients with signs of respiratory distress and avoiding non-invasive ventilation or a high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) that risks aerosol generation., In a study on COVID-, HFNC therapy was associated with decreased intubation or mechanical ventilator use and mortality.
