Research Article: Baicalin Exerts a Protective Effect in Diabetic Nephropathy by Repressing Inflammation and Oxidative Stress Through the SphK/SP/NF-?B Signaling Pathway
Abstract:
Diabetic nephropathy (DN), the most frequent complication of diabetes mellitus, is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease and is responsible for significantly increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide. The pathological mechanisms behind DN progression are multifactorial, including the interactions between oxidation, inflammation, apoptosis, and ultimately fibrosis in the kidney. There is strong evidence that inflammation and oxidative stress are vital risk factors in the occurrence and progression of DN., Current treatments can only slow the progression of DN but cannot cure it. Therefore, it is necessary to develop safe and effective drugs to treat DN.
