Research Article: Gastrointestinal Fistulas in Necrotizing Pancreatitis Receiving a Step-Up Approach Incidence, Risk Factors, Outcomes and Treatment
Introduction:
Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common disease of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Approximately –% of patients progress to necrotizing pancreatitis(NP), which results in varying degrees of necrosis of the pancreatic parenchyma and/or peripancreatic tissue and severe local or systemic complications. , Gastrointestinal fistula is one of the delayed complications secondary to necrotizing pancreatitis. The location of the fistula may involve the stomach, duodenum, jejunum, ileum and colon simultaneously or separately.
