Research Article: Emergence of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase and Carbapenemase Producing Gram Negative Non-Fermenters at Selected Hospitals of Northeast Ethiopia: A Prospective Cross-Sectional Study

Date Published: 2023-07-27

Abstract:
Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) are gram negative non-fermenter (GNNF) superbugs responsible for multi-drug resistant infections at different clinical sites.– They are the main etiologic agents of blood stream infection (BSI), urinary tract infection (UTI), wound infection, and lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI). Infection with these multi-drug resistant (MDR) strains seriously compromise treatment options.
