Research Article: Infection Prevention and Control Practices and Associated Factors Among Healthcare Cleaners in Gondar City: An Analysis of a Cross-Sectional Survey in Ethiopia
Abstract:
Infection prevention and control (IPC) refers to the measures, practices, protocols, and procedures that can prevent and control the risk of infection and the transmission of micro-organisms in healthcare settings. Infection prevention and control is a central component of safe and high-quality service delivery at the facility level. Evidence-based best practices for infection prevention and control guide healthcare providers to ensure safe, high-quality care for patients, visitors, healthcare workers, and the healthcare environment. When infection prevention and control measures are poorly implemented, the risk of acquiring infections through exposure to blood, body fluids, or contaminated materials in healthcare settings is substantial and has several consequences.
