Research Article: Key Modulation of ROS and HSP for Effective Therapy Against Hypoxic Tumor with Multifunctional Nanosystem

Date Published: 2023-11-18

Abstract:
Hepatoblastoma is a common tumor of the liver in children with high malignance and short survival time. The current status of treatment for hepatoblastoma is not optimistic., When tumors are detected, they are mostly already locally advanced, and removing them all at once is challenging. As an emerging yet effective treatment modality, PTT has played a critical role in comprehensively treating various malignant tumors. PTT can convert laser energy into heat and elevate the temperature of tumor tissues with the aid of photothermal converters, thus inducing apoptosis in tumor cells. It has been shown that tumor cells are more sensitive to thermal stimulation than normal cells. When the temperature of tumor cells reaches – °C, significant apoptosis is detected in tumor cells rather than normal ones spatio-temporally. However, under such circumstance during PTT, heat shock proteins are over-expressed, thus inducing thermal resistance and reducing the efficacy of photothermal therapy.,
