Research Article: Prevalence of Atopic Diseases Among Sexually Diverse Adults in the US
Abstract:
Atopic diseases, including asthma, allergic rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis (AD), are T-cell–mediated inflammatory disorders that share genetic and environmental risk factors.1 Sexually diverse (SD) people, including those who identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual, are at increased risk of asthma and allergic rhinitis, which may be associated with unique environmental exposures, behavioral factors, or sociocultural factors.2 Limited data exist on the prevalence of AD among SD people. We investigated the association between atopic diseases and sexual orientation among US adults.
