Research Article: Prediction of Response to Chemoradiotherapy by Dynamic Changes of Circulating Exosome Levels in Patients with Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Abstract:
Esophageal cancer is now the sixth most deadly cancer. More than half of new cases with esophageal cancer are in China, and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is the main pathological type. Surgery is firstly be considered when diagnosed with esophageal cancer, with a median overall survival time of .–. months. However, about % of new patients have the chance for surgery. The Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) – trial showed that -fluorouracil plus cisplatin combined with radiotherapy significantly improved median survival and -year OS rate compared with radiotherapy alone for patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer. Concurrent chemoradiotherapy has become the standard treatment for patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer, but the local recurrence rate is over %.,
