Abstract:
The main characteristic of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is excessive fat deposition in the liver. It has a close connection to metabolic syndrome (MetS), whose prevalence has increased as obesity has become more widespread. Type diabetes mellitus (TDM) and obesity are two metabolic risk factors that are associated with NAFLD, which is defined by % hepatocyte steatosis. The exclusion of other chronic liver disorders and excessive alcohol use (over g/day for men and g/day for women) are additional qualifiers.
